New Family dialog

Used to create and define a new family for a part, compound part, or component.

Accessed from the Family/Part Editor menu bar (Edit > New).

Tip: Make sure input focus (pointer) is in the Properties list box (right pane).

Note: The dialogs are very similar in appearance, but each one displays the Type of family (Part, Compound Part, or Component) and the name of the *.xml file into which this new family will be created. Be sure to have the right one open when creating the new family.

Setting	Description
Name	Enter the name for the new family. Note: The name you enter displays on the dialog title bar `[in brackets]`.
Description	Enter the description of the new family.
Type	Displays the type of family being created.
Location	Displays the location of the dataset file into which this new family will be placed. If this is not the correct location, click Cancel and start again.
OK	Implements and saves changes and closes the dialog.
Cancel	Closes the dialog without making any changes.
Apply	Saves new family settings and closes the dialog.
